Qualitative design and concept review

Fire Safety Consutlancy Services from Assured

A Qualitative Design & Concept Review will assess your requirements in line with BS 7974.

The QDCR is usually required for RIBA stages 1 up to 4 – contact Assured for design team fire safety concept guidance.

The Qualitative Design & Concept Review is used within complex designs that will have many frequent occupants, tall buildings (typically over 50m tall), large buildings with multiple disabled access points and within facilities deemed to have a high fire safety risk which needs to be addressed.

Items for consideration during the review include:

  • Review the architectural design.

  • Establish the fire safety objectives.

  • Agree tools and software that are fit for purpose.

  • Identify fire hazards and possible risks.

  • Establish trial fire safety designs.

  • Identify acceptance criteria and methods of analysis.

  • Establish Fire Scenarios for analysis.

  • Establish CFD review process – all stakeholders should be able to approve or comment upon the clearly documented findings before submitting the final design for building regulations approval.
